Local match rules
Each player starts with a City, one 5-HP Peasant and 500 gold. Neutral points start as Hamlets.
Plain land costs 1 movement point; forests and hills cost 2. Water and mountains block land units; ships move only on water. All units move one neighboring hex at a time. The shaded range excludes blocked and unreachable hexes. Units cannot share a hex. Movement restores when your turn begins.
Click your Peasant, choose Move, then click a green hex. Peasant actions can build on an empty hex in an owned region, or capture a city on the army's hex.
Farm: 150 gold, grassland only. Town: 250 gold. Fort: 200 gold, neutral ownership. Construction spends remaining movement, consumes the Peasant and completes at the start of your next turn. Capturing spends remaining movement and transfers the territory.
Click an owned building for recruitment or city upgrades. One building action per turn: recruit or upgrade. Upgrades apply immediately. Recruits occupy its empty hex and can move next turn. Mines cost 500 gold and take two turns on hills or mountains. Ports cost 250 gold and take one turn on adjacent shoreline water. Naval units move only on water. Income and transport are not active yet.
Only Peasants build improvements and capture cities. Other units can use owned buildings to recruit or upgrade; that does not construct an improvement.
Combat: select your unit, press Attack, then choose a highlighted enemy. Hover to preview damage. Melee range is 1 hex with retaliation from surviving defenders; ranged range is 2 hexes without retaliation. Damage is max(1, attack minus defense). One attack per turn spends all remaining movement; defeats remove units without automatically moving the attacker.
Spearmen gain +2 attack against cavalry; Axemen gain +2 against Swordsmen and Legions. Castle/Fortress defense bonuses and completed Forts stack with Fortify. Non-Peasants can Fortify for +1 defense, spending movement; moving or attacking ends it. Catapult hits add a stacking −2 defense penalty after damage, lasting until the next round; defense cannot fall below zero.
Damage, range, retaliation, and timing are prototype rules because the source design leaves them undefined. There is no line-of-sight blocking or mountain defense bonus yet.
